Vice Minister Qian Keming and Secretary-General of African Continental Free Trade Area Wamkele Mene held a meeting and signed cooperation documents

Recently, Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming held a virtual meeting with Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area Wamkele Mene and signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area on the Establishment of an Expert Group on Economic Cooperation.

Qian Keming said that as the AfCFTA promotes and revitalizes the African continent, it will also bring important opportunities for the development of China-Africa economic and trade relations. The establishment of the Expert Group reflects the strong will of China and Africa to deepen cooperation. The two sides should make the Expert Group a pragmatic and efficient platform for high-quality China-Africa economic and trade cooperation

Mene said that China has long been an important partner of Africa. The AfCFTA, once completed, will provide Chinese exporters and investors with broad business opportunities in agricultural processing, automobiles, fintech, and project financing. The establishment of the expert group marks the establishment of partnership between the Secretariat and the Ministry of Commerce of China. He hoped both sides could seize the opportunity to deepen cooperation and take the economic and trade cooperation between Africa and China to a new level.
