On the afternoon of October 27, Qian Keming, Vice Minister of Commerce, and Hassoumi Massoudou, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Niger, co-chaired the 6th meeting of the China-Niger Joint Economic and Trade Committee by video link, and the two sides exchanged views on deepening economic cooperation and trade.

Qian Keming said that, with the care of President Xi Jinping and President Mohamed Bazoum, China-Niger economic cooperation and trade have achieved fruitful results, as the bilateral trade has continued to grow, investment cooperation has achieved remarkable results, and infrastructure cooperation has been steadily advanced. CNPC's oil development project in Agadem helps Niger become an emerging oil exporter in Africa, and infrastructure projects such as the Third Niger Bridge bolstered people's welfare in Niger.

Qian Keming emphasized that today's world is facing changes unseen in a century. Both China and Niger shoulder the important task of coordinating COVID-19 response with economic and social development. Both sides should conscientiously implement the consensus of the two heads of state and the spirit of the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity Against COVID-19, to navigate this trying time in the spirit of solidarity. China stands ready to strengthen strategic alignment with Niger, implement the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, deepen investment cooperation, innovate infrastructure investment and financing models, tap trade potential and bring bilateral economic cooperation and trade to a new level.

Hassoumi Massoudou said that China-Niger economic cooperation and trade have been fruitful. China has become Niger's largest source of investment, and China has provided financing support to build a series of important projects for Niger, effectively promoting Niger's economic and social development. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China has assisted Niger with multiple batches of medical supplies and COVID-19 vaccines, which effectively supported Niger in fighting the epidemic. The Nigerien side expressed its gratitude for this. It is hoped that China and Niger will continue to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, investment, energy and mining, water resources and education, and further consolidate bilateral friendly relations.
